Dear Norris Recreation Center Member:
We have some exciting news to share with you regarding the future of the Norris Recreation Center. First however, we want to take a moment to say “thank you” for your continuing support of the Norris Recreation Center and tell you we look forward to seeing you in the future.
The St. Charles School District 303 Board of Education and the St. Charles Park District Board of Commissioners will both vote in December on a proposal that would transition management of the Norris Recreation Center to the St. Charles Park District. We see this proposal as a huge positive for the Recreation Center as the St. Charles Park District is one of the top park districts in the country as demonstrated by their numerous awards and their national recognition.
The following are some quick points that will answer questions you may have about what this change would mean for our members:
Our convenient hours of operation and our reasonable rates will remain the same.
Current memberships that extend beyond July 1, 2016 will be honored by the Park District.
Members who wish to renew memberships are encouraged to do so as they normally would through the Norris Recreation Center’s current process.
Many of the staff working at the Norris Recreation Center will have the opportunity to join the Park District staff. Transition and hiring procedures will take place in spring 2016.
The Norris Recreation Center’s annual shutdown period in order to refresh the facility and make improvements will be August 8th thru 14th, 2016.
Also, please join us in congratulating Mr. Jon Monken for his 30 years of service to the Norris Recreation Center. Mr. Monken will be retiring at the end of December. His decades of leadership are most appreciated and he will be missed.
In the coming weeks, pending approval by the Park District Board of Commissioners and the District 303 Board of Education, we will post a “Frequently Asked Questions” document on the Norris Recreation Center web site www.norrisrec.org. This will attempt to answer a majority of the questions that you as members may have about this new opportunity to partner with the St. Charles Park District. Additionally, pending final approval, the St. Charles Park District will follow up with a welcome letter to all Norris Recreation Center members and provide additional information.
We look forward to your continuing support of the Norris Recreation Center!
Nicholas P. Manheim
Norris Recreation Center Board President
